LPG Conversion Specialists since 1999
With conversion prices starting at around £995 +VAT, converting to LPG can seem like an expensive job to pay out for. For most people, converting to LPG has two benefits.
Firstly, and of course for most people the most important issue, the savings. You could save up to 50% on your fuel costs alone by converting to LPG. Some vehicles also benefit from lower Road Tax when converted to LPG and even exemption from the Congestion Charges. With all these reductions, over 60% of your cars running costs could be reduced each year.
Secondly, there is the environmental issue. LPG Autogas reduces toxic emissions like sulphur, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon dioxides and carbon monoxide, plus particulates and benzene. In particular, it reduces CO2 emissions by around 20% compared to petrol. At a time when the developed world is producing more CO2 than the world can cope with, it falls to everybody to play their part in trying to limit the amount of CO2 that they are responsible for producing.
As an example, if your car produces 30mpg on petrol, it will
return around 24mpg on LPG. With a 60ltr tank providing 13
Gallons of fuel, a tank of Petrol will provide you with 390
miles at a cost if £61.50. LPG would provide you with 312 miles
for £31.14.
To cover 10,000 miles Petrol will need 25.6 tanks of fuel
costing £1574.40.
To cover 10,000 miles LPG will need 32 tanks of fuel costing
£996.48. This saves you £577.92 on Fuel alone!
With annual savings like that, the conversion would pay for itself in 2 years and returning profits every year there after. Higher mileage drivers can often see their investment returning profits in 1-2 years!
Comparison uses Fuel Prices of 102.5ppl for Unleaded and 51.9ppl for LPG. Figures taken from petrolprices.com correct for 28th July 2009.
